This is my small group of large 50s fashion dolls:
The one on the left say 376 13 eyes on the back of her head. She looks like a Miss Revlon clone. Her make up was terrible, so I'm in the process of giving her a face up. I need to put benzoyl peroxide on her face, cover with plastic wrap, and put her in the sun. I removed a lot of it with acetone, but it didn't get it all.
Next to her is Miss Revlon! Cissy is next to her!
Next to Cissy is a doll with 14R on the back of her head. Many doll companies used this mold. I think this one in a Sayco Miss America doll.
Next to Miss America is...is... - I have no idea. She has no markings. She in jointed at the neck, shoulders, and hips only. She has a blonde poodle cut. Her hands have carefully painted nails. Her face reminds me of a Deluxe Reading doll. I asked Miss Beauty Parlor if it's anyone she knows, but she's not telling.

Uneeda
Pee Wee or Peewee Dolls and Their Clones
Only two have the foot marking. Two have very convincing faces and may be later versions that have harder bodies and no marking. The bright red haired one is either very new or a clone.

Pollyanna
This is a Walt Disney Doll from the 60s the was made when Haley Mills played the role of Pollyanna in a Disney movie.
Unfortunately I don't have her original red and white gingham dress. It's hard for me to put on a big bid for the original dress or to put in the effort to recreate it because, well, frankly, I think it's hideous.
I mean the bloomers are long pants leg red gingham things that make no sense, unless they were trying to copy a civil war era bathing suit or something. Anyway, I have this beautiful toddler silk red and white gingham dress that I could take in...
I may just take it in so it looks like this (it's just pinned in back right now) but I saw this pretty dress on line. I'm sorry, but I don't know who the source is, but there is this amazing doll artist named Sayuri, and it sure looks like her impeccable work...
So I'm toying with the idea of adding lace, ribbon, buttons and a bonnet. Another dress from the internet that I have my eye on is this...
I could just use some of the left-over material to add the loose short sleeves and add a high collar white lace shirt. Some black tights, black ribbon baby shoes, black ribbon for the hair, and a strand of delicate pink beads. Hmmm....

Ideal
Saucy Walker ?
This hard plastic 50s doll was a real find at the thrift shop. Her dress is a little extravagant. I'm hoping to make some new 50s style school dresses for her.
She has an unusual mouth. It's open and actually has a tongue inside.
Toni
This is a P-93 doll that was made between 1949 and 1953. She's 21". These dolls were used to advertise toni's home permanents. Her hair is a nylon wig and is pretty rough shape.
They say the larger Toni dolls can wear the American Girl Doll clothes, and other 18" doll clothes. Here she is next to Addy.
Toni only has a weird slip that I don't think was hers originally. I put a blue ribbon around the waist to make it look more dress like. I guess if I get a new wig, it would be an 18" doll wig.
Addy is wearing a pair of up-cycled baby overalls that I'm working on. I'm disappointed in the front. I have several other sets of baby overalls to work with...

Antique German Dolls
These are my most precious dolls
The first one here is a Minerva doll and her head is made of tin!
The back has lovely hand sewn button holes...
From left to right: Simon Halbig 1079, China head doll: Kestner mignonette, Minerva, Armand Marsielles googly, Kestner 167, and the large one is an Armand Marsielles 390.
The first one here is a Minerva doll and her head is made of tin!
Her stamp was hard to get to and I accidentally tore her kid body. Her body is in rough shape. I used artist's tape to stop her sawdust from spilling out. I actually think it's cork shavings. I don't think her hands are original. I will have to find some tin hands for her...
Her lower legs are made of cloth. While her dress was off for repairs, I thought it would be good to photograph her beautifully made dress...
The back has lovely hand sewn button holes...
You don't have to have a serge setting on your machine to finish the seems so beautifully.
The undergarments...
Kestner
This Kestner 167 doll head was for sale at a good price on ebay because it's damaged. There is a crack going down the side of her face. I found an antique composition German body on Ruby Lane and learned how to attach her head. She may not be worth a lot, but to me, she is worth a fortune because I'm hoping to learn how to make bisque reproduction dolls. I'll never afford a real Bru Jne, but the glow of this doll and the mastery of her lips, eyelashes and eyebrows are the best example a future doll artist could hope for!
Her new Lettie mohair wig is a little sparse for my taste. Although her head has a 9" circumference, I should have bought a 13 for the sake of length and volume. I could always take the cap part in. Her dress is handmade and borrowed from another vintage doll. I didn't make this one, but the lavender is pretty with the red hair.
I may copy her lower arms and hands with Kato poly clay for the Minerva doll...
Here they are together. They are almost the same size...
Now to try re-positioning the wig so her forehead is smaller.

Effanbee, F&B
Fluffy
I think this is a doll called Fluffy that was produced in 1960. Other companies use her face mold so she may not actually be Effanbee...
She has a few freckles across her nose. The only marking I could find was on her lower back. I played with my phone's coloring to bring out the clarity of the numbers 12 - 5...
I love the color of her dress combined with her red/strawberry blonde hair!
She is 12 inches tall...
Pun'kin
I found this little one at the thrift shop on the same day. What an unusual face!

Mystery Dolls
Antique Painted Celluloid ?
Here is a picture of a doll named Candy. She's about 10" tall. :
I found her in the thrift shop for $10. She came with some clothes and a booklet.
So far I've been unable to find any information on her...
I love the way her knees work. They snap straight so she can stand and is very well balanced, yet they can bend to a nice sitting position. She looks like something from the late 50s or early 60s.
The bottom of her shoes say this, and her clothes have no tags but are well constructed:
More pictures from her book :)
If I ever get anyone that knows dolls to read my blog, maybe they can tell me more...
Jolly Toys, Kaysam, Nasco
While this toy does have a faint marking on the back of her head saying Jolly Toys, the company itself is a bit of a Mystery. She looks like another doll I've seen named Cutie Pie. Some of the dolls they have made are the stuff of nightmares. This little cutie, however is very sweet. My first picture of her is in my workshop at night under low light because her hair and skin are a mess and her dress is torn and dirty. Very undignified. Hopefully there will be more pictures with washed reset hair, a mended washed dress, and perhaps some respectable shoes and socks...
She has an interesting profile. Her upper lip is very prominent.
Cissy Face Child Doll
I have no idea who this is. There are no markings. Her face looks like a Madame Alexander Cissy Doll. She is well made, well preserved, and beautiful.
